There is a growing demand for lightweight components in the automotive and consumer electronics sectors, driving the adoption of die cast zinc alloy for its superior fluidity and precision. Many local workshops are evolving from basic sand casting to more sophisticated pressure die casting to meet the quality requirements of international buyers.
Despite the potential, the industry faces challenges in raw material consistency and energy costs. The emergence of a professional casting studio model is beginning to bridge the gap between conceptual design and mass production, allowing Sri Lankan SMEs to prototype faster and reduce time-to-market.
